Building a Complete City: Mayor Goynes-Brown Unveils 2026 Vision for North Las Vegas

Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown delivered the 2026 State of the City address today at the Aliante Casino Hotel Spa, outlining a transformative “legacy foundation” designed to carry North Las Vegas through the end of the decade. As Nevada’s first Black mayor approaches the final stretch of her term, her address focused on the transition from rapid expansion to the creation of a “complete city” through disciplined infrastructure investment and enhanced public safety.
Central to the 2026 briefing was the city’s new Strategic Plan, which prioritizes the modernization of public safety facilities and the recruitment of new police and fire personnel to keep pace with the city’s population boom. Mayor Goynes-Brown highlighted several “shovels-in-the-ground” milestones, including the progress of the Downtown Gateway project and the continued evolution of the Apex Industrial Park, which officials estimate could eventually support more than 70,000 jobs.
Beyond industrial growth, the Mayor emphasized community well-being, citing the opening of the Dolores Huerta Resource Center and nearly 1,200 new affordable housing units as evidence of a “people-first” governance approach. As the 2026 mayoral election begins to heat up with Councilman Scott Black and Assemblywoman Daniele Monroe-Moreno vying to succeed her, Goynes-Brown’s final address serves as both a scorecard of past achievement and a roadmap for the city’s next chapter.
