LAS VEGAS – Clark County officials ultimately enacted criteria for local cannabis lounges, including anti-DUI measures that prompted several business leaders to express worry.
The following are some of Clark County’s business licensing requirements for lounges:
- A security plan
- A DUI prevention plan
- Odor mitigation and ventilation plan
- No visibility from the outside of any consumption
- No removal of cannabis products or leftovers from any lounge
- A 24-hour no-tow policy
- A two-hour last call for serving cannabis
In a letter to commissioners, the Nevada Cannabis Association voiced concerns about the 24-hour no-tow policy and the two-hour last call for supplying cannabis, making a final push to sway votes.
In a letter to commissioners, the Nevada Cannabis Association voiced concerns about the 24-hour no-tow policy and the two-hour last call for supplying cannabis, making a final push to sway votes.
“Two hours is a very long period to operate without any revenue to counterbalance pricey labor. Customers have the option to quit, and they will,” stated president Layke Martin.
“The no-tow policy does not address potential culpability for damage or theft,” she added, expressing concern that landlords would be unwilling to impose a protracted no-tow restriction.
The measures could be revisited by commissioners in a year or less to assess the possible impact on firms.
“I can initially support rolling out a two-hour last call. And if we see that it’s having a significant impact on the business licenses that are operating these organizations, I believe we’d be wise to reconsider,” said Commissioner William McCurdy II.
The Cannabis Compliance Board issued 20 provisional licenses to unincorporated Clark County businesses. Prior to being approved to open, each would have to submit an application to the CCB.
