Two Nevada men have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for the 2023 killing of a retired police chief who was struck and killed while riding his bicycle, according to court records.
Prosecutors said the victim, Andreas Probst, a 64-year-old former police chief, was intentionally hit by a vehicle driven by the defendants. Video evidence presented during the case showed the moment of the collision, which investigators described as deliberate. Probst later died from his injuries.
The case drew widespread attention after authorities released video footage that contradicted early claims about the incident. Prosecutors argued the evidence demonstrated intent rather than an accident, leading to murder charges.
Both defendants were convicted and sentenced to long prison terms. No further details regarding parole eligibility were immediately released.
