LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has released an updated arrest report for 38-year-old Dario Nunez Jr., the driver accused of striking a pedestrian at a bus stop near the Strip early Saturday morning.
The Collision and Victim Status
At approximately 2:47 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, Nunez was operating a 2014 Ram 2500 pickup truck, making a left turn from northbound Las Vegas Boulevard onto westbound Sahara Avenue. According to investigators, Nunez failed to maintain his lane, driving the truck onto the sidewalk and smashing into a bus shelter.
The victim, identified as 28-year-old Fiona Dominguez of Jamaica, New York, was thrown onto the roadway by the force of the impact. She remains at UMC Trauma in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, including a broken pelvis and a brain bleed.
Evidence of Deception
New evidence emerged as detectives reviewed surveillance footage from a nearby hotel:
-
The Disposal: Video reportedly shows Nunez emerging from his truck shortly after the crash and throwing an object over a fence. Officers later recovered an empty bottle of Tito’s vodka in that location.
-
The 911 Call: Nearly an hour after the crash, Nunez approached an officer searching the area, claiming he had called 911 to report striking a curb but “did not know where” the impact occurred.
-
Admission: Nunez reportedly admitted to officers that he had been drinking prior to the collision.
Legal Proceedings
Nunez is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center on a single felony count of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm. Justice Court records indicate his bail has been set at $175,000.
