A Green Valley High School teacher charged with multiple sex crimes appeared in court for the first time on Tuesday.
Anthony Coffield, 35, was arrested last week after investigators said he sexually assaulted a student on campus. According to a Henderson police report, Coffield allegedly contacted the student by email and asked her to meet him in the school’s theater. Police said the student, who was two days from graduation at the time of the incident, later became pregnant.
Authorities said the arrest followed a month-long investigation conducted with assistance from the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.
Coffield is scheduled to be arraigned on felony charges, including sexual assault and sexual conduct between a school employee or volunteer and a pupil.
He is expected to return to court next Monday for a hearing on bail.
