
Gun Confiscated from Student at Derfelt Elementary School in West Las Vegas Valley

LAS VEGAS – Officials have reported that a gun was confiscated from a student at Derfelt Elementary School on Thursday. Principal Lea Chua sent a message to families stating that administrators found the firearm and immediately reported the incident to Clark County School District Police.
The principal emphasized that weapons of any kind are not allowed on campus and reminded parents to discuss school safety with their children.
The school district has a SafeVoice reporting system for students and parents to report incidents, which can be accessed by calling 1-833-216-SAFE (7233) or through the website safevoicenv.org.
The individual student involved in the incident has not been identified.
