LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has released the identities and chilling details behind Tuesday’s fatal shooting at a Smith’s grocery store on South Maryland Parkway. The suspect, identified as Alejandro Estrada, is facing multiple counts of open murder following a targeted attack that left two shoppers dead in the aisles.

A Targeted Domestic Attack

According to police, Estrada entered the store shortly before noon on Tuesday specifically seeking out the victims.

  • The Victims: The deceased have been identified as Amanda Frias Rosas and her husband, Victor Frias Rosas. Investigators confirmed that Estrada is the ex-boyfriend of Amanda and that the couple had recently married.

  • The Scene: Witnesses described a chaotic scene near the pharmacy section where the gunman opened fire without warning. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Ordinary Heroes” Subdue Gunman

While the shooting was devastating, authorities say the death toll likely would have been higher if not for the “tremendous courage” of several shoppers.

  • The Tackle: A former local high school football standout, whose name is being withheld pending further statements, reportedly spearheaded a group of bystanders who tackled Estrada as he attempted to exit the building.

  • Citizens’ Arrest: These “ordinary heroes” physically restrained Estrada and managed to secure his firearm until LVMPD officers arrived moments later. “Their actions were nothing short of selfless,” said a Metro spokesperson during a Wednesday briefing.
