A judge on Saturday denied bail for a 22-year-old man accused in a deadly road-rage shooting that left an 11-year-old boy dead on a Las Vegas-area freeway. Tyler Matthew Johns appeared virtually in Henderson Justice Court, where he faced multiple felony charges, including open murder with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm.

According to investigators, the shooting occurred during a road-rage incident on the 215 Beltway, where the child was riding in a vehicle on the way to school. Authorities said the suspect allegedly fired into the car, fatally injuring the boy. The victim later died from his injuries.

Law enforcement agencies, including Henderson Police and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, worked jointly to identify and locate Johns. He was taken into custody shortly after the incident. Officials have not released additional details about the events leading up to the shooting, and the investigation remains active.

Johns is scheduled to return to court at a later date as the case proceeds. Police have asked anyone with information or dash-camera footage from the area to contact investigators.
