Las Vegas Animal Shelter Offers $200 Incentive to Boost Foster Care, Ease Overcrowding

The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas is taking a proactive approach to tackle overcrowding by launching a new incentive program aimed at encouraging more people to foster dogs. The goal is to place 75 dogs in month-long foster homes within a three-day period, creating much-needed space in the shelter.

Families who commit to fostering an eligible dog for four full weeks will receive a $200 incentive upon completion of the foster period. The program will run from September 3rd to 5th, allowing potential fosters to bring home a dog directly from the adoption lobby.

Kelsey Pizzi, Communications Manager at The Animal Foundation, emphasized the importance of this initiative in expanding their foster network and providing temporary homes for dogs in need. The shelter has drawn inspiration from successful similar programs in Los Angeles and Philadelphia.

The Animal Foundation will provide all necessary supplies, including food, to foster families. Eligible dogs for fostering must be over six months old and weigh more than 35 pounds.

This innovative program offers a win-win situation for both the shelter and the community. The shelter gets much-needed relief from overcrowding, while foster families get to experience the joys of having a furry companion, potentially leading to permanent adoptions. Moreover, the financial incentive can be a helpful motivator for those considering fostering but hesitant due to associated costs.

  1. They’re hypocrites. They bust people all the time for owning too many dogs. And if your dog has puppies, got to jail!
