A Las Vegas father, Barron Greene, is facing murder and drug trafficking charges after his 3-year-old son, Jayden Greene, died on March 14th.
According to police documents, officers found Jayden unconscious and unresponsive at the residence. He was pronounced dead at the hospital an hour later. The cause and manner of death are still pending from the Clark County Coroner’s Office, but investigators suspect fentanyl ingestion.
Police allege Greene was aware of and involved in drug use and sales. During questioning, Greene initially denied having drugs and expressed a belief his son was alright. However, after learning of Jayden’s death, he stated, “Just charge me with neglect, I killed my f—ing baby dude.”
A search warrant of the residence uncovered a significant amount of narcotics, including cocaine, meth, heroin, suspected MDMA pills, and numerous blue pills labeled “Perc 30” – a counterfeit prescription often containing fentanyl. Police also found a “Perc 30” pill near vomit in the home, leading them to believe Greene was under the influence when Jayden died.
Greene is currently in custody with bail set at $100,000. His next court hearing is scheduled for April 16th.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that can be deadly in very small doses. It’s a stark reminder of the importance of responsible drug storage and the devastating consequences of drug use around children.
