A 37-year-old man was arrested on drug trafficking charges following a joint operation between the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). On March 4, authorities stopped a vehicle driven by Victor Luis Arriola, where officers observed approximately 100 pounds of methamphetamine in the rear of the car. According to a news release from HSI, the narcotics were stored in two large, open boxes and were “clearly visible” to the officers on the scene.
The seized drugs have an estimated street value of several million dollars. Arriola was taken into custody and currently faces felony counts of drug trafficking. Homeland Security officials stated that the arrest is part of an ongoing commitment to dismantle large-scale distribution networks within Southern Nevada. Arriola was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, where he currently remains in custody. The investigation into the origin and intended destination of the narcotics is continuing as the case moves toward a status check in court on March 10.
