LAS VEGAS, NV — An armed adult male is deceased following a volatile officer-involved shooting in East Las Vegas this afternoon. The lethal encounter occurred after the suspect aggressively ignored law enforcement commands and discharged a firearm at arriving patrol units.

The Active Traffic Dispatches

The dynamic public safety hazard unfolded at approximately 12:25 PM today, Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) communications hub received a rapid influx of panicked 911 calls from local motorists detailing a chaotic scene near the major intersection of North Sloan Lane and East Lake Mead Boulevard.

Witnesses on-scene reported a male suspect standing along the public corridor actively brandishing a handgun and firing multiple rounds directly into moving traffic lines. Multi-agency patrol units immediately swarmed the neighborhood under emergency response protocols.

The Tactical Confrontation

Upon executing their arrivals on the transit grid, standard uniform officers located the adult male suspect still securely armed with the firearm. According to a primary multi-media briefing delivered directly on-scene by LVMPD Captain Adam Seely, responding officers established a strategic containment perimeter and issued explicit verbal commands demanding the suspect drop his weapon.

The suspect actively refused to comply with the commands. He subsequently raised the firearm, pointed it directly at the line of containment, and fired a shot toward the responding officers. Faced with an immediate, lethal threat to public safety and tactical personnel, multiple Metro officers unsealed their service weapons and returned fire, striking the gunman.

The Medical and Investigation Grid

Officers quickly moved forward to take the incapacitated suspect into formal custody and immediately initiated emergency medical trauma aid protocols. Emergency medical personnel rushed to the scene to assist, but despite advanced life-saving measures, the suspect was pronounced deceased at the location.

No law enforcement officers or traveling civilians sustained injuries during the active incident. Per standard operating procedures within the agency, this incident has been designated as the sixth officer-involved shooting handled by LVMPD in 2026.

The official identity of the deceased suspect, alongside the formal identities of the involved officers, remains temporarily withheld under strict administrative guidelines. The LVMPD Force Investigation Team has taken absolute command of the ongoing scene to audit ballistics profiles and process area surveillance video feeds.
