LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) arrested a suspect who barricaded himself in a Caesars Palace hotel room with a weapon following a domestic disturbance report.
The incident began at 9:15 a.m. when officers received a report of a domestic disturbance at the hotel. According to the police, a man pulled a woman into the room “by force.” The suspect refused to open the door and stated he was armed.
The LVMPD SWAT team contained the area around the hotel room, and no shots were fired. The floor was locked down as of 12 p.m., and police stated that it was “unclear if weapons are involved.” During a press conference, LVMPD mentioned that negotiators were working to get the woman out of the room. The police have heard from her and said she is okay. There is no information on their relationship.
At 2:46 p.m., LVMPD confirmed that SWAT entered the hotel room and took the suspect into custody. They also reported that the woman who was in the room is safe and with officers. LVMPD added that there will be a large police presence as the investigation continues.
Caesars Palace also released a statement.
“We are aware of the security incident at Caesars Palace. Our team is cooperating fully with law enforcement officers on-scene who are handling the investigation. We refer you to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department for more information.”
