Las Vegas Police Make Arrests in Deadly January Robbery

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has arrested two suspects in connection with a January robbery that resulted in one death and another individual in critical condition. Ervin Ortega-Rodriguez (21) and Daniel Meza-Ortega (19) face multiple charges, including open murder and robbery.

Details of the Incident

On January 26th, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 5200 block of Garden Lane near Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where one was tragically declared dead.

Investigation and Arrests

According to police, the victims were robbed at gunpoint inside a garage within the 5200 block of Greene Lane. Following an altercation during which the victims pursued their assailants, both victims were shot in the 5200 block of Garden Lane.

Through their investigation, the LVMPD identified Ortega-Rodriguez and Meza-Ortega as the primary suspects. Ortega-Rodriguez was arrested on February 13th, followed by Meza-Ortega’s arrest on February 15th.

Charges and Court Appearance

Both suspects have been booked into the Clark County Detention Center and are being held without bail. Charges include open murder with a deadly weapon, robbery, battery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit murder with a deadly weapon. Ortega-Rodriguez and Meza-Ortega are scheduled to appear in court on February 21st.
