LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (January 12, 2024) – A horrific hit-and-run Thursday evening has left a woman fighting for her life in a Las Vegas hospital. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) are searching for the driver of a light-colored pickup truck who fled the scene after colliding with the pedestrian.
The incident occurred around 8:24 p.m. near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Yale Street. According to investigators, the woman was crossing Yale at an implied crosswalk when she was struck by the southbound truck. The impact left her with life-threatening injuries, prompting immediate transport to UMC.
Despite the swift medical response, the woman’s condition remains critical. Meanwhile, details about the hit-and-run perpetrator are scarce. LVMPD describes the vehicle as a single-cab, long-bed pickup truck, possibly of a newer model. Witness testimonies and nearby cameras are being analyzed to identify the vehicle and track down the driver.
“This is a senseless act that has left a family in turmoil,” stated a spokesperson for LVMPD. “We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward. No detail is too small, and any bit of information could help us find the person responsible and bring them to justice.”
Witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the hit-and-run are encouraged to contact LVMPD immediately at (702) 828-3111. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
As the investigation continues, the community and authorities remain united in their hope for the woman’s recovery and a swift resolution to this case. The reminder of pedestrian safety, particularly at crosswalks, is underscored by this tragic incident, prompting renewed calls for caution and awareness on both sides of the road.
