LVAC Pools to Reopen Following Two-Month Closure and Health District Agreement

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Athletic Club (LVAC) announced Wednesday that its pools will be reopening in the coming weeks, bringing relief to members who have been without this amenity since August.

The closure stemmed from an investigation by the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) that led to the revocation of LVAC’s lifeguard waiver. This investigation was prompted by two incidents, including the tragic drowning death of 58-year-old Leticia Triplett in February.

In response to the closure, LVAC filed a lawsuit against SNHD, alleging insufficient warning about the changes to lifeguard requirements. Triplett’s family also filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the gym.

However, a new agreement was reached in early October, allowing LVAC to reopen its pools upon hiring and training lifeguards. “We’re so excited to announce that our pools will be reopening over the next few weeks,” LVAC stated in an email to members. “We know how important the pool area is to your fitness routine and to the community, and we can’t wait to welcome you back.”

While exact reopening dates vary by location due to final details and lifeguard scheduling, LVAC assured members that updates specific to each club will be shared soon.

This reopening marks a significant step towards restoring normalcy for LVAC members and addressing the concerns raised by the SNHD investigation and the tragic drowning incident.
