Authorities have reported an unusual breach of security at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. On Sunday, December 8, Hector Posado-Mendoza allegedly forced his way through a secure area at an aviation business and attempted to board a private plane.
According to police, the incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. when Posado-Mendoza entered the business, which serves private pilots and their passengers, and began exhibiting “very strange” behavior. Within minutes, he reportedly damaged a badge reader, broke through secure doors, and made his way onto the tarmac.
Once outside, Posado-Mendoza climbed the steps of a private plane and sat down before being apprehended. The incident took place near Flamingo Road, away from the airport’s main commercial terminals.
Paramedics transported Posado-Mendoza to a hospital following the incident. He was later booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of violating airport rules and trespassing.
Records indicate that Posado-Mendoza was released without having to pay bail and before a probable cause hearing.
The breach has raised concerns about security at the airport’s private aviation areas, which cater to high-profile clients and private pilots.
