A man died after being struck by a vehicle in a suspected DUI incident in downtown Las Vegas, according to local authorities.
The collision occurred Friday at approximately 10:20 p.m. near 1st Street and East Ogden Avenue. Police reported that a 2020 Cadillac Escalade had been stopped when a dispute began between the driver and another man.
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators shows the SUV reversing as a pedestrian was walking behind it. The driver, identified by police as 45-year-old Kevin Vo, allegedly hit the pedestrian while backing up, causing the man to fall. Police say the vehicle then moved forward, striking the pedestrian a second time.
The Escalade continued west before hitting two yellow guard posts and eventually coming to rest after rolling backward. The pedestrian, a 56-year-old man, was transported to a nearby hospital but did not survive despite medical efforts.
Authorities said Vo remained at the scene and exhibited signs of impairment. Court records indicate he is facing charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence resulting in death.
