On April 8, 2022, Ronnie Macias rammed into a motorcyclist on U.S. Highway 95 and Sunset Road while driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. After the crash, Macias exited his vehicle armed with a bow and arrows, fled the scene on foot, and began firing arrows at passing vehicles, creating a dangerous situation for other drivers.

Macias pleaded guilty to DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm in October 2023. On Tuesday, District Judge Monica Trujillo sentenced him to prison for a term ranging from five years to twelve years and six months.
