Metro Homicide Detectives Investigate Fatal Saturday Shooting on Haystack Drive

LAS VEGAS, NV — Homicide section detectives with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) have opened an active death investigation following a fatal shooting on Saturday morning in an East Las Vegas neighborhood.

Patrol officers arrived at the scene after receiving multiple emergency dispatch calls reporting gunfire along a residential corridor.

Fatal Shooting Response in East Las Vegas

According to Metro Police preliminary incident logs, patrol units responded at approximately 7:15 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2026, to the 5000 block of Haystack Drive, near South Nellis Boulevard and East Tropicana Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in front of a residential property. Medical personnel with Clark County Fire Department responded shortly thereafter, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Active Search for Suspect and Motive

Homicide detectives and crime scene analysts secured the neighborhood perimeter, canvassing the block for eyewitnesses and collecting private security camera footage.

Preliminary findings indicate a verbal altercation occurred prior to the discharge of firearms, after which an unidentified suspect fled the area on foot.

“Our homicide section is actively working to establish the sequence of events and identify any individuals involved in this incident,” stated LVMPD public information officers during an initial briefing.

The identity of the deceased, alongside the official cause and manner of death, will be formally released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office following family notification.
