LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s (LVMPD) Collision Investigation Section has finalized comprehensive forensic tracking logs heading into the final 48 hours of May, formally codifying a series of high-impact roadway fatalities across the valley floor.

The latest data entries solidify the jurisdiction’s comprehensive traffic mortality ledger, bringing the year-to-date total to 49 fatal traffic incidents for 2026.

Fatal #49: Spring Valley Vehicle-Versus-Pedestrian Crash

Traffic investigators finalized the scene blueprint for a late-night vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision in the Spring Valley area that resulted in an immediate driving under the influence (DUI) arrest.

The incident unfolded on Thursday night along South Decatur Boulevard, just south of Spring Mountain Road. Evidence collected at the scene indicates that a 2013 Toyota RAV4, operated by 27-year-old Victoria Truong of Las Vegas, was traveling along the transit corridor when it struck a 35-year-old male pedestrian who was navigating across the roadway outside of a marked or implied crosswalk.

The pedestrian sustained catastrophic blunt-force trauma and was pronounced deceased at the scene by arriving medical personnel. Truong displayed immediate signs of substance impairment and, following field sobriety testing, was processed into the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC) on felony counts of DUI Resulting in Death and Reckless Driving.

Fatal #48: East Washington Avenue Red-Light Collision

Concurrently, fatal detail detectives closed active scene holds at the intersection of East Washington Avenue and North Bruce Street.

According to investigative logs, a female suspect operating a Ford Mustang convertible was traveling at an extreme speed when she failed to slow for a changing traffic signal, entering the intersection on a solid red light. The Mustang violently broadsided a 1993 Nissan pickup truck that was executing a legal left turn.

The 49-year-old male driver of the Nissan succumbed to severe, high-impact injuries at the scene. The female operator faces formal arraignment at the Regional Justice Center on felony counts of Reckless Driving and DUI Resulting in Death.

Fatal #47: High-Speed Boulder Highway Broadside

Initial holiday weekend data was also codified regarding a violent multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Desert Horizons Drive in the southeast valley.

Traffic units determined that a 2025 Hyundai Elantra, operated by 28-year-old Zachary Zwick, was traveling northbound on Boulder Highway at an excessive rate of speed. Concurrently, a 2024 Chrysler Pacifica minivan, driven by 55-year-old veteran Clark County special education teacher Jeff Buchbaum, entered the intersection from westbound Desert Horizons Drive to execute a legal left turn.

The speeding Hyundai broadsided the driver’s side of the minivan, killing Buchbaum instantly. His 43-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized at Sunrise Hospital in stable condition. Zwick did not display signs of acute impairment but was booked in absentia from his hospital bed for felony Reckless Driving Resulting in Death.

The identities of the pedestrians and motorists in the remaining cases are subject to ongoing verification by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
