LAS VEGAS, NV — Collision reconstruction detectives with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) are asking for the public’s help to track down a white 2021 Honda Accord following a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 55-year-old pedestrian along West Sahara Avenue.

The incident—documented under LVMPD Event # LLV241000048525 and investigated by the department’s Collision Investigation Section—occurred on West Sahara Avenue just east of South Valley View Boulevard.

Emergency medical responders from the Clark County Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after 911 calls were dispatched, but the pedestrian suffered catastrophic blunt-force trauma and was pronounced deceased in the roadway.

The driver behind the wheel of the sedan did not stop to render aid or notify emergency dispatch, instead fleeing the scene eastbound on Sahara Avenue into the pre-dawn darkness.

Pre-Dawn Crossing Turns Fatal East of Valley View

According to evidence gathered by fatal crash reconstruction detectives and nearby commercial surveillance cameras, a white 2021 Honda Accord sedan was traveling eastbound on West Sahara Avenue in the leftmost of three eastbound travel lanes (lane T1).

At the same time, the 55-year-old male was attempting to cross the multi-lane arterial northbound, walking east of the signalized intersection at Valley View Boulevard outside of a marked or implied pedestrian crosswalk.

The pedestrian entered the path of travel and was struck on his left side by the front bumper and hood of the accelerating vehicle.

The force of the impact propelled the man forward onto the asphalt.

Surveillance video indicates the driver braked momentarily before continuing eastbound along Sahara Avenue toward Interstate 15 and the Strip corridor.

Patrol officers from Metro’s Spring Valley Area Command shut down eastbound Sahara Avenue between Valley View Boulevard and Rancho Drive for several hours, recovering fractured headlamp housing, chrome trim fragments, and vehicle sensor brackets consistent with a 2021 Honda Accord.

Investigators are circulating descriptions of the fleeing vehicle to commercial repair shops, glass replacement providers, and parts distributors across the valley.

Under Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS 484E.010), leaving the scene of an accident involving bodily injury or death is a non-probational Category B felony carrying a mandatory sentence of two to 20 years in state prison.

“Hit-and-run fatalities are entirely unacceptable in our community,” Metro traffic detectives stressed. “If you are involved in a collision, the law requires you to remain at the scene, render aid, and cooperate with first responders. Fleeing elevates an unfortunate accident into a major felony carrying decades in prison.”

The identity of the 55-year-old victim will be formally released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next-of-kin notifications have concluded.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, possesses dashcam footage along Sahara Avenue between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., or recognizes a damaged white 2021 Honda Accord is urged to contact the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section at (702) 828-3595 or leave an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers of Nevada at (702) 385-5555.
