Clark County officials have approved major funding to alleviate overcrowding at The Animal Foundation. A $39 million capital allocation will go toward designing and constructing a supplemental animal shelter spanning seven to eight acres and covering approximately 40,000 square feet. Additionally, $3 million has been earmarked for an emergency temporary shelter to be located near Sam Boyd Stadium at Silverbowl Park. These projects aim to address the shelter’s growing intake—currently averaging 90 stray pets per day, totaling more than 14,000 year-to-date, on pace to exceed last year’s numbers. No construction timeline has been set for either facility.
