Murder-Suicide in Northwest Las Vegas: Victims Identified

LAS VEGAS – The Clark County Coroner’s Office has released the names of the victims involved in a heart-wrenching murder-suicide incident in northwest Las Vegas. The gruesome event unfolded on Monday, Dec. 11, around 10:03 a.m., prompting a response from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to the 7500 block of Oso Blanca Road near Durango Drive and Veterans Memorial Highway.
A concerned man dialed 911 after discovering a harrowing scene inside an apartment complex while checking on his brother. Responding officers found five individuals with gunshot wounds—a man, an older woman, and three children under the age of 14.
Tragically, the victims have been identified as follows:
1. Schinara Patterson, 34 – Cause of Death: Multiple gunshot wounds of the head; Manner of Death: Homicide
2. Ki’Ziah Cone, 14 – Cause of Death: Multiple gunshot wounds of the head; Manner of Death: Homicide
3. Zi’Myra Patterson, 6 – Cause of Death: Gunshot wound of the head; Manner of Death: Homicide
4. Marvin Ray Patterson, 42 – Cause of Death: Contact gunshot wound of the head; Manner of Death: Suicide
An 11-year-old boy, a family member confirmed to authorities, was found “clinging to life” and immediately transported to a local hospital.
Disturbingly, the shooter has been identified as Marvin Patterson, who was on house arrest at the time of the incident. Patterson had been accused of sex crimes against children and was wearing an ankle monitor. Arrested in October 2022, he faced nine felony charges, including lewdness and sexual assault with minors under 16 years of age. Despite initial bail conditions, his bail was later reduced to $10,000 by Judge Diana Sullivan, raising questions about the handling of such cases. The alleged crimes spanned from 2013 to 2022, painting a grim picture of the events leading up to this shocking tragedy.
