Nearly 97,000 Nevadans Sign Up for Health Insurance Through Nevada Health Link for 2025

Nevada Health Link, the state’s health insurance marketplace, reports that nearly 97,000 residents have signed up for health coverage in 2025, reflecting a 10% increase from previous years. Coverage for those enrolled by December 31, 2024, will begin on January 1, 2025.

Key Factors Behind the Growth

Katie Charleson of Nevada Health Link attributed the surge in enrollment to the unwinding of Medicaid. Over the past year, individuals whose income exceeded Medicaid eligibility limits were removed from the program and are now seeking alternatives through the exchange.

“For those who were no longer eligible, they are now taking action to enroll in health insurance,” Charleson explained.

Plan Availability and Costs

For 2025, Nevadans have access to a wide range of plans:

•Washoe County: Seven carriers offering 71 plans.

•Rural Nevada: Four carriers offering 46 plans.

Premiums and prices vary, but nine out of ten enrollees qualify for subsidies to offset costs. Half of the participants will pay less than $100 per month in premiums.

Charleson highlighted the potential savings:

“A family in Washoe County making $81,000 a year could receive a $1,300 monthly subsidy. With this, a bronze plan might cost $0 per month.”

New Features for 2025

1.Expanded Eligibility:

DACA recipients and individuals with legal work authorization can now enroll and potentially qualify for subsidies. Health Link assures enrollees that their information will not be shared with immigration or law enforcement agencies.

2.QR Code Accessibility:

QR codes on billboards and at community events now provide quick access to plan comparisons and prices. Brokers are available at these events to assist enrollees at no cost.

Renewals and Deadlines

Current enrollees who are satisfied with their plans and up-to-date on payments will see their coverage automatically rolled over for 2025. However, exploring new options on the Health Link website is encouraged to ensure the best fit.

Key deadlines include:

•December 31, 2024: Enrollment for coverage starting January 1, 2025.

•January 15, 2025: Final deadline for 2025 coverage.
