Carson City, NV – Governor Joe Lombardo has announced the launch of “America250 Nevada,” a statewide initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. This national milestone, celebrated in 2026, will be an opportunity for Nevada to showcase its unique stories, history, and contributions to the nation.
“We envision participation from every corner of our beautiful state,” Governor Lombardo said. “I trust Nevadans will rise to the occasion, using their dedication and passion to honor our past, strengthen our present, and inspire hope for our future.”
The America250 Nevada program features several key initiatives:
- Traveling Treasures: Launched in January 2026, this mobile history program will bring immersive experiences to communities across Nevada. Through interactive exhibits and discussions, Nevadans can explore their state’s history and envision its future.
- Nevada Story Collective: This online and in-person storytelling initiative aims to gather and preserve personal narratives of Nevada’s diverse population. Events throughout the state will focus on themes of American and Nevadan identity, fostering a deeper understanding of the people who make Nevada unique.
- Nevada Voices Exchange Speakers Bureau: A roster of speakers, storytellers, and educators will be available to engage with audiences across Nevada. These individuals will share insights on Nevada’s history, art, culture, and future aspirations.
- Silver State Changemakers: In collaboration with the Nevada Department of Education, this program focuses on specific funding needs to enhance student engagement and success. Its impact will extend beyond 2026, ensuring lasting positive change in Nevada’s schools.
- Nevada Gives Volunteer Projects: This campaign highlights civic engagement by supporting 36 volunteer projects across the state. These initiatives, ranging from clean-up efforts to art installations, will foster a sense of community and collaboration.
- Community Calendar: A centralized online calendar will keep residents informed about all America250 Nevada events, ensuring maximum participation and inclusivity.
“America250 Nevada invites every Nevadan to reflect, celebrate, and participate,” Governor Lombardo emphasized. “There’s much to achieve, and we encourage everyone to join us on this journey.”
“This anniversary underscores the importance of national unity,” Governor Lombardo added. “Through Nevada’s vibrant culture and rich history, let’s build stronger communities and continue to embody ‘The Nevada Way.'”
