A Las Vegas man is facing driving under the influence charges following a fatal collision with a bicyclist on Friday night. The incident occurred in central Las Vegas at the intersection of North Rancho Drive and West Sunset Drive.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash took place shortly before 7:45 PM. Investigators determined that a bicyclist was traveling east on Sunset Drive when he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign, entering the travel path of a 1999 Ford F-150. Following a preliminary investigation, he was arrested and booked on suspicion of DUI resulting in death.
The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. The investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section remains active. This incident marks another fatality in what local residents have described as a dangerous stretch of the Rancho Drive corridor.
