In a chilling example of rising violence among youth, North Las Vegas police have arrested 16-year-old Arnaz Jones in connection with the deadly shooting of 33-year-old Correy Dennis. The incident occurred Sunday morning at an apartment near East Centennial Parkway and North Pecos Road.
When officers arrived, Dennis was found with a gunshot wound to his stomach. Tragically, he was later pronounced dead. The suspect had fled the scene before police arrived, but by Tuesday, detectives identified Jones as the shooter. He was apprehended on Friday and now faces an open murder charge, currently held at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.
This shocking case raises questions about personal accountability, the role of community and family in shaping young lives, and the challenges law enforcement faces in addressing juvenile crime. What steps can be taken to prevent such senseless acts of violence and restore safety to our neighborhoods?
