The National Weather Service has extended a wind advisory for the Las Vegas Valley and surrounding areas, effective through 10:00 PM Saturday. Forecasters expect sustained north winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching between 50 and 55 mph. The advisory highlights potential hazards for high-profile vehicles on Interstate 15 and Interstate 40, as well as dangerous conditions for small watercraft on Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, where wave heights could reach four feet.
Additionally, a dust advisory remains in effect as high winds are expected to kick up loose soil, significantly reducing visibility near dry lakebeds and construction sites. Local authorities have cautioned residents to secure outdoor objects and warned that the wind could lead to downed tree limbs or isolated power outages. Conditions are expected to be most intense during the daytime hours on Thursday and Saturday, with a slight decrease in wind speeds forecast for Friday.
