One dead, two injured in high-speed crash in southwest Las Vegas Valley

LAS VEGAS – An early morning crash in the southwest Las Vegas Valley left one person dead and two others injured. The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. Sunday near Durango Drive and Desert Inn Road. According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, a 2021 Dodge Charger was traveling northbound on Durango at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The car veered off the street and collided with signs, landscaping, and a business before finally coming to a rest on its side in a private driveway near the business. Both occupants of the vehicle were taken to University Medical Center, where the driver was later pronounced dead. The passenger suffered only minor injuries.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the driver once the next of kin has been notified. Police reported that debris from the crash also hit a pedestrian, causing minor injuries.
This incident marks the 42nd traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2023. The crash remains under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
