LAS VEGAS – Witnesses say that on Friday morning, two daughters found their father’s body in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley.
Police in Las Vegas say that the 77-year-old man died in a crash that was likely a hit-and-run.
Kathy Jeffers says she doesn’t see many people walking on Brent Thurman Way. She works in a nearby business plaza and says that cars merge onto the 215 beltway at at least 45 miles per hour.
But Jeffers didn’t expect to see the dead body of a man on the road.
“It was a pretty big blow. I’ve never seen anything like it before, “Jeffers had said.
At the corner of Hacienda and Brent Thurman Way, she and a coworker saw two young girls who were crying and going crazy. They went to help and found out about the tragedy.
They say that the girls called 911 and said that the dead man was their father, who had been out for a walk in the morning. After he didn’t come home, his daughters went looking for him.
“I can’t picture those two young girls finding their father died on the side of the road. That’s terrible, “Jeffers said, with emotion in her voice.
“We were at a loss for what to do. All I wanted to do was give them a hug and make sure they were okay. One of the women was crying, which was terrible. The other person was on the phone, so she was not paying attention. She was lost in the other one “said Gladys Rojas, a bystander.
Metro investigators say that the man’s badly hurt body was found between 6:50 and 9:14 a.m. on Friday. They tried to save the man’s life, but he died anyway.
Police say that there is something strange about how he died. They want the public’s help to find the person or people responsible for this crime. Call the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section at 702-828-3060 if you have any information.
As of this report, the death is still being looked into.
