Police Search for Armed and Dangerous Suspect After Shooting at Officers During Chase

Las Vegas, NV — Metro police are actively searching for Jaime Mendoza, 54, who is considered “armed and dangerous” after allegedly firing at officers during a police chase late Friday night.
Incident Overview
At approximately 10:26 p.m., officers spotted a vehicle near Christy Lane and Bonanza Road matching the description of one involved in a violent felony crime. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect fled at high speed, temporarily eluding officers.
The vehicle was later found near North Las Vegas Boulevard and Owens Avenue, where it had crashed. Mendoza fled on foot, leading to a chase during which he allegedly fired at officers. One officer returned fire before taking cover, allowing Mendoza to escape.
Suspect Details
Jaime Mendoza is described as a 54-year-old man who police believe may have been injured during the incident. Authorities are urging the public not to approach Mendoza if spotted, as he is considered dangerous.
