An 11-year-old child has died after being shot during a road-rage incident early Friday morning on the westbound 215 Southern Beltway near Gibson Road in Henderson. Investigators say two vehicles were vying for position just before 7:30 a.m., and during the interaction the driver of a sedan fired into another vehicle, striking the child who was riding in the back seat.
The driver of the second vehicle then rammed the sedan. A nearby law-enforcement officer observed the incident and arrested a 22-year-old suspect at the scene. Authorities have charged him with open murder and are continuing their investigation.
Westbound lanes of the beltway were closed for multiple hours as officers processed the scene and gathered evidence. No further details have been released at this time.
