Seatbelt Not Worn: North Las Vegas SUV Crash Leads to Fatality
By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, August 3, 2025 1:35 pm
A fatal high-speed crash in North Las Vegas early Sunday has led authorities to open a homicide investigation after one adult woman was found unresponsive near a wrecked SUV. North Las Vegas Police say officers responded shortly after 1:30 a.m. to the 6100 block of Withrow Downs Street, near East Tropical Parkway and Pecos Road, after reports of an injured person inside a vehicle.
Emergency personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Police identified the vehicle as a silver Toyota Sequoia that, according to investigators, had been traveling north on Clayton Street at excessive speed. The SUV reportedly struck a curb, veered off the road, and began spinning before it struck a brick wall. The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, and authorities believe speed and failure to wear a restraint were contributing factors. The identity of the woman remains withheld pending next of kin notification.
Local law enforcement is urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702‑633‑9111 or submit tips anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 702‑385‑5555 or at crimestoppersofnv.com.
