A high-speed collision near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) on April 30, 2025, resulted in a seven-vehicle pileup, leaving one woman critically injured and several others hospitalized. The incident occurred around 2:09 p.m. on University Center Drive, just south of East Harmon Avenue.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, 42-year-old Nicole Chauvet of Henderson was driving a 2023 Hyundai Elantra northbound at a high rate of speed when she failed to slow down for stopped traffic at a red light. Her vehicle struck the rear of a 2022 Ford Transit Van, initiating a chain reaction that involved a 2022 Toyota Highlander, a 2022 Tesla Model 3, a 2022 Dodge Charger, a 2019 Toyota Camry, and a 2017 IRIZA Tour Bus.

Emergency responders from the Clark County Fire Department transported seven individuals to local hospitals. Chauvet sustained life-threatening injuries and was admitted to the intensive care unit at Sunrise Hospital. The other victims suffered varying degrees of injuries.

This incident underscores the critical importance of responsible driving. Reckless behavior on the road not only endangers the driver but also poses significant risks to other motorists and pedestrians. As our communities continue to grow, adherence to traffic laws and speed regulations becomes increasingly vital to ensure public safety.
