Suspect in Fiery Las Vegas Strip Crash Facing DUI Charge

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – The court and police documents tells us, the suspect in a horrific Las Vegas Strip collision on Friday night is now facing a DUI charge.
According to court documents, Alexander Jay Dawkins, 34, is charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane, and failure to provide proof of insurance.
After the accident on the Strip at 4:30 p.m., Dawkins and a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer were taken to the hospital. Jan. 27. According to police, the driver of a white vehicle was going southbound on Las Vegas Boulevard when he collided with a palm tree in the center median. According to authorities, the car caught fire while the driver was inside.
According to police, both the motorist and the officer were transported to the hospital; the officer was being treated for smoke inhalation after busting a window and releasing the driver.
According to an LVMPD representative, the officer is doing well and will be back at work on their next shift.
