Tesla Wins Nevada Approval to Test Self-Driving Tech Ahead of Robotaxi Plans

Tesla has been granted approval to test its advanced driver-assistance system in Nevada as the company moves closer to introducing a potential robotaxi service. State officials confirmed the decision this week, allowing Tesla to conduct road tests under Nevada’s autonomous vehicle program.
The tests will evaluate Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving technology in real-world conditions across Nevada’s roadways. Regulators emphasized that safety remains the top priority and that data collected from the tests will help determine the viability of expanding autonomous vehicle services.
While Tesla has promoted the robotaxi concept for several years, the Nevada authorization represents a key step toward potential deployment. Further approvals will be required before any commercial service can begin.
