Toddler’s Death in North Las Vegas Leads to Uncle’s Arrest

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV – On Thursday morning, a tragic incident occurred when North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) responded to reports of a 31-month-old child not breathing at an apartment on the 3400 block of Mercury St. The child was rushed to University Medical Center Hospital, but tragically did not survive.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the child’s identity and official cause and manner of death.
NLVPD detectives launched an investigation and identified the child’s uncle, 21-year-old Leo’oolo Tevaseu, as a suspect. Tevaseu has been arrested and booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center. He faces charges of open murder and child abuse resulting in substantial bodily harm.
