Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit Las Vegas on Friday, following the first presidential debate of the 2024 election. This visit marks her fifth trip to Nevada this year, capping off a week of rallies and campaign events hosted by the Biden-Harris campaign in the Silver State.
The campaign announced it would hold 23 debate watch parties on Thursday night, alongside nearly two dozen canvass launches and campaign volunteer events over the weekend. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are set to face off in their first debate of the 2024 election cycle on Thursday, with the 90-minute debate beginning at 6 p.m.
In the days leading up to the debate, the Biden-Harris campaign is organizing pre-debate rallies on Wednesday in both Las Vegas and Reno, in collaboration with the AFL-CIO and Northern Nevada Building Trades. In Las Vegas, members of the Southern Nevada Building Trades will distribute Biden-Harris yard signs.
Recent campaign events have focused heavily on access to abortion and reproductive care. Last week, U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) campaigned for Biden in Las Vegas, warning rally attendees that Trump could threaten reproductive rights and access to abortion.
On Monday, which marks the second anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the campaign plans to hold an event with actress Connie Britton and a Texas OBGYN to discuss the potential impact of the upcoming election on reproductive care.
According to a recent Emerson College Polling/The Hill survey published Thursday, Trump and Biden are in a tight race in Nevada. Of the 1,000 registered voters surveyed, 45.5 percent support Trump while 42.7 percent back Biden, with the results within the poll’s 3 percent margin of error. Notably, 11.8 percent of voters remain undecided.
