Henderson police have arrested a man in connection with an alleged animal cruelty incident captured in a video that circulated widely on social media.

According to the Henderson Police Department, the investigation began on December 16 after a woman reported receiving a video from her partner that showed him throwing her cat against a wall. Detectives reviewed the footage and identified the suspect as 27-year-old Angel Ventura Ayala.

Ayala was taken into custody on December 18 and booked on suspicion of a felony charge related to the torture or maiming of a cat. Police confirmed that the animal involved in the video was transported to a veterinary hospital for medical treatment following the incident.

Court records also show that Ayala faces an additional felony charge of assault involving domestic violence. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for January 8.

The case remains under review as it proceeds through the court system.
