A Man Is Behind Bars After He Aggressively Approached a Delivery Driver With a Knife

In a harrowing incident just days before Christmas, the Sparks Police Department responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the vicinity of 2895 N. McCarran Blvd around 8:30 a.m. on December 23.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers engaged with the victim, a delivery driver, who recounted a terrifying encounter with an unknown assailant wielding a knife. The driver, visibly shaken, detailed how the man aggressively approached her on multiple occasions, creating a perilous situation.
The suspect, later identified as 56-year-old Charles Macaluso, was reportedly confronted by a brave witness who intervened, prompting Macaluso to flee the scene. Responding swiftly, Sparks Patrol officers were able to locate Macaluso, who was still brandishing the knife when apprehended.
Without further incident, Macaluso was taken into custody by law enforcement. Shockingly, authorities discovered that he was also in possession of a schedule one controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest.
Charles Macaluso now faces serious charges, including Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Sparks Police Department is actively investigating the motive behind the aggressive behavior and the presence of illegal substances.
