Carson City Shooting Suspect Booked on Murder Charges

NEVADA – The shooting victim died as a result of his injuries. The suspect, 19-year-old Samuel Cocking, was arrested and charged with Open Murder, Possession of an Altered/Removed Firearm Serial Number, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon without a Permit.
ORIGINAL STORY: At around 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified of a shooting.
It happened at the intersection of East William Street and North Stewart Street in Carson City.
Patrol units responded and apprehended a 19-year-old suspect. According to deputies, the adolescent carried a semi-automatic weapon and a Texas ID. They also discovered an adult guy who had been shot in the chest at the location.
Carson Fire & Paramedics treated the victim and transported him to Renown Medical Center via a nearby Care Flight. The victim’s condition was critical at the time of transport.
According to the CCSO, deputies gathered information that the victim, his 17-year-old son, and a friend were strolling on the sidewalk on William Street.
They had contact with the suspect (also a pedestrian) for reasons that are still being investigated, and an argument followed. During the argument, the suspect allegedly pulled out a semi-automatic weapon and shot the victim.
The region was confirmed to be safe right away, with no ongoing hazard to the public.
The culprit and victim have not been identified by Carson City Sheriff’s deputies.
