RENO, NEV. – An investigation is underway following a deadly shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning on Mill Street. Police responded to a 911 call around 3:30 a.m. and found an unidentified man dead with a gunshot wound.
Authorities believe the shooting was a targeted event, and there is no immediate threat to the community. The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Secret Witness at 775-322-4900. The Secret Witness program offers rewards for anonymous tips that lead to arrests or convictions.
Investigators are currently canvassing the area and collecting evidence. They are also interviewing potential witnesses and following up on leads.
“We are committed to finding the person responsible for this crime and bringing them to justice,” said a police spokesperson.
The shooting marks the latest in a string of violent incidents that have plagued Reno in recent months. Earlier this year, there were several shootings, including one that left a man critically injured.
Police are urging residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity. They also remind the public that the Secret Witness program is valuable for solving crimes.
