Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Attempted Child Luring Incident in Fernley

NEVADA – The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into a possible child luring incident and is seeking a person of interest in the case.
The incident occurred on April 13, 2023, at around 4:30 p.m. in Fernley near the intersection of Ranch Road and Vance Drive.
According to authorities, a pre-teen girl was riding her bike alone when a white man in his late 20s to middle 30s, with dark hair and a mustache, attempted to lure her into his early 2000s, gray/blue Chevrolet pickup truck with a quad cab.
Fortunately, the girl was able to escape from the suspect’s grasp. He was last seen driving east on Vance Drive.
A surveillance camera nearby captured the suspect’s vehicle, and officials are asking anyone with information on the man or his vehicle to contact Sergeant Julie Redmond or Sergeant Gabe Santos at (775) 463-6620.
