RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – On January 4, a guy from Elko County was detained for mistreating animals.
An anonymous tip claiming Ryndon resident Jon Hickox had six mistreated horses on his farm sparked the inquiry on December 8, 2022. When deputies arrived to the farm, they found that one of the horses was dead and that the others were in very bad shape since they had gone for a long time without food or drink.
Two of the horses had to be put to death by a veterinarian because they were in such bad shape. The personnel of the Elko County Sheriff’s Office is presently taking care of the three remaining horses and providing them with routine veterinarian treatment to aid in their recovery. Three pets were also seized from the premises. According to the authorities, the dogs were kept in filthy, compact wire cages. In the kennels, the dogs had no access to water.
Nine counts of abusing, hurting, or abandoning animals led to the arrest of Hickox by deputies.
