Man Is in Custody for Fernley Shooting, Charged With First Degree Murder

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday that a man is in custody for a shooting that occurred in Fernley this week and left one person dead.
Edward Doyle Small has been arrested and charged with first degree murder after police say he shot a man on August 29.
On Monday night, the LCSO received a report of a shooting in the Mesa Drive block. According to a preliminary investigation, the incident was caused by a family conflict.
Deputies say the victim, who is now known as Vincent Eugene Small, was shot upon arrival and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to LSCO, Doyle Small attempted to run away from the scene, but police caught up with him in a nearby neighborhood.
Doyle Small has been taken to the jail in Lyon County, where he will remain detained on charges of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
The investigation is still ongoing.
