NEVADA – The community of Reno, Nevada is reeling after the tragic death of 18-year-old Hailey Nieto, whose body was found on N. Virginia Street between Red Rock Road and White Lake Parkway on March 23. The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Nieto died of a gunshot wound to the head, ruling her death a homicide.
Nieto was a mother of two and her family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses. In an effort to bring justice for Nieto, Secret Witness is offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) responsible for her death.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case and is asking for the public’s help. Anyone who may have been in the area between Red Rock Road and White Lake Parkway near the railroad tracks between 5 a.m. and noon on Thursday is asked to call detectives at 775-328-3320.
The investigation into Nieto’s death is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office is urging people to avoid the dirt extension of Old Virginia Street between Red Rock Road and White Lake Parkway on the west side of U.S. 395. The area will be open for residential traffic only until the investigation is complete.
Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to come forward and help bring closure to this tragic event.
