NEVADA – U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto have announced a significant boost in connectivity for tribes in Nevada with a $1.5 million funding injection dedicated to enhancing high-speed internet access. This funding has been allocated through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, marking a positive step toward bridging the digital divide in tribal areas.

The Te-Moak Battle Mountain Band, South Fork Band Council, and the Winnemucca Indian Colony of Nevada are set to benefit from this initiative, which aims to provide reliable and quality broadband connectivity for these communities.

Senator Rosen emphasized the vital role that internet connectivity plays in the lives of Nevadans. She stated, “I’m glad to see funding I secured in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will help expand access to high-speed internet for tribes across Nevada. I’ll keep fighting to ensure communities in our state have the resources necessary to bring all Nevadans online.”

Echoing the sentiment, Senator Cortez Masto stressed the importance of robust broadband access for tribal communities, which supports not only connectivity but also local economies. She stated, “I’m proud to see the Te-Moak Battle Mountain Band, South Fork Band Council, and the Winnemucca Indian Colony of Nevada receive this critical broadband support.”

With the internet serving as an essential tool for communication, education, business, and more, this funding stands as a promising stride toward equipping tribal communities with the connectivity they need to thrive in today’s digital world.
