NEVADA – Brandon Smith, a 40-year-old man from Sparks, has been found guilty of multiple sexual assault charges, including three counts of Sexual Assault on a Child Under 14 and one count of Lewdness with a Child under 14.
The conviction comes after the victim’s mother reported the incident to Sparks Police. According to the mother, her 13-year-old daughter disclosed that Smith had inappropriately touched her and coerced her into engaging in explicit acts when she was just five or six years old.
Showing immense courage, the young victim advocated for herself by urging Smith to confess to her mother. In subsequent text messages to the mother, Smith admitted to the abuse.
The guilty verdict sends a powerful message that acts of sexual assault against children will not be tolerated, and justice will be served. The sentencing phase will determine the appropriate consequences for Smith’s actions.
