LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is actively hunting for a driver who fled the scene after striking and killing a pedestrian in the west valley early Thursday morning.
The incident highlights a continuing rise in pedestrian fatalities across Clark County’s major transit corridors.
The Incident Sequence at El Capitan Way
According to official dispatch logs and scene data unsealed by Metro, patrol units and emergency medical personnel rushed to the intersection of West Flamingo Road and South El Capitan Way at approximately 1:20 AM on July 16.
First responders arriving on the scene located an adult pedestrian lying in the roadway with severe, catastrophic trauma. Investigators determined that the pedestrian was attempting to navigate across the intersection when they were struck by an unidentified vehicle traveling along Flamingo Road.
Rather than stopping to render aid, check on the victim, or alert emergency services, the driver immediately fled the scene. Despite aggressive life-saving measures administered by responding paramedics, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
